    Not good.
I really don’t care how many thumbs down I get, I really don’t care it’s my life I live it as I want. Now Obama thinks the government should choose for us? That’s not fair, I want to make my decisions on what I do with my life and money. Not some guy who I don’t even know personally. Who cares if he is going to end the war. He is just going to cause Iraq to think they can come over here more and cause terrorism. I can barely stand flying on a plane anymore, and I love traveling, I don’t want something else to prevent me from something I love.
Also he is making gay marriage legal. Some people agree that, that is against gods beliefs. I really know nothing should be in the way of true love, but you really have to think about what it can do to the US.
Another decision he is making is to get ride of private and public schools. I find that really stupid. People pay good money for private school, and that would be like throwing it all away. Also there is home schooling for people that have diseases, mental problems, or just there parent’s want them to do that. That really frustrates me.

  2. cheezyhi Says:

In a word AFRAID very very afraid, and I hope and pray that I am wrong.
Only time will tell if he will actually bring about “change” as he has claimed.
What got him elected was the drop in the stock market. People do not have a basic understanding of how the stock market works or what drives it.
The mortgage crises was an ongoing problem under Clinton (as admitted by him on the “View”)
The reason the economy is in trouble is the same reason the stock market crashed, you can’t keep borrowing and not pay it back.
Most people carry large balances on their credit cards, do they think Obama is going to pay them off for them!
I am willing to bet Obama is, at best a 1 term president. I hope and pray he proves me wrong

  3. Och Aye The Noo! Says:

No matter who had won there would be mixed feelings, and for a whole array of different reasons with people having so many different opinions, but why make this about race as many of you are doing, it’s a real shame that the majority has spoken yet many don’t want to give Obama a chance to prove his worth.
When Gordon Brown replaced Tony Blair as UK Prime minister no one was happy, he was witch hunted to the point of despair yet it is he now whom has gained the respect of the world by taking the global financial crisis on his shoulders and is almost single handedly repairing the economies of almost every country affected.
My point is… Be happy that you have new blood that can deliver change.

  4. Annoyed Says:

Honestly, I don’t like it. When choosing a candidate to vote for, I studied both candidates and their running mates and I have to say that Obama was a poor choice. Not only are his policies bad, his position on health care, and the whole shtick about taxing big businesses are horrible. In my opinion, even his morals aren’t good at all. I watched the debates, I watched videos of Palin and Biden, I studied their body language, the way they addressed the public and the worst of them is Biden.
I don’t mean to rant, so I won’t. All I’ll say is, he’s a worse choice then Obama.
I can’t even say that Obama’s a good guy; I think he’s an okay guy and that’s even pushing it. He accepted “dirty” donations, he always attacked McCain on his past votes but neither ever talked about the reasons behind those votes.
What’s worse is all of my friends voted for Obama, and I know not a one of them took the time to research him. They most definitely didn’t research McCain. I feel that many people just took what they saw on tv, youtube, and articles favoring one candidate over the other, and they just went with that.
Also, another bad thing about this election is the race issue. Don’t you hate that? Don’t you wish people would just grow up and vote for a candidate because he’s qualified and not because of his race?
Those are just a few major reasons why I don’t think it was a wise choice on behalf of us Americans.
Sorry for the long rant, and I don’t mean to upset anyone or ruin anyone’s partying. Though, if you DIDN’T Research your candidate, or didn’t take this election seriously, then I’m not sorry. You deserve to be upset.
I’m sorry to everyone else though for saying such harsh things.
Congrats to those who voted for Obama after doing their “homework”, your candidate won! Have a great congratulation party with your friends and family! = )

  5. Erika M Says:

This is an awesome time people! The American people voted and Barack Obama won both the popular and electoral votes by a HUGE landslide. for those who are disappointed my question is WHY? Aren’t you tired of the Bush Bots, this economy, our soldiers fighting a war that isn’t even a war. Don’t you want lower taxes for the middle class, Independence from third world fuel, health care for everyone, and a college education for those who work in our communities and serve in the military? It’s time for change! The change is now! It’s not about Black or White.. It’s about the issues and getting out of the 8 horrible years we have suffered under the Bush campaign. You don’t have to be happy about it, but I hope you put your differences aside and support your leadership and push for whatever you feel needs to change. “Your part of the problem if you not part of the resolution”

  6. kd8_dqk Says:

It makes me physically ill and i’ll explain why. No it’s not because he’s a black guy; I would feel the same whether he was white, yellow, red, purple, plaid, whatever. It’s not because he’s a damn democrat either. It’s because of what he is telling the people, and of course the people are basically lemmings and follow his every word.
UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE? How the hell are we supposed to pay for that? No tax increases you say? Listen to what this imbecile is saying and THINK PEOPLE!
He SAYS that it’s going to be an uphill battle but he seems to think otherwise. What about energy? I have worked in the oil and gas industry my entire life and i’ve seen both parties in the white house. When a democrad is in office drilling decreases. When there’s a republican drilling picks up. New jobs? He’ll destroy hundreds of thousands of jobs by killing the oilfield. Everybody knows that natural gas is the future and we have enough to last for 200 years while we develop hydrogen technology. Has he mentioned this? NO!
And that’s not all! Instead of enforcing the laws already in place he will make NEW laws and criminalize law-abiding gun owners by adding a 500% tax.
    Ahhhh, no more taxes huh?
He buddies up with terrorists, takes the american flag off his plane, refuses to say the pledge of allegiance. Is this how a president should act? HELL NO!
It is a sad day for America. Let the hate mail commence.

  7. ariwl1 Says:

I’m disappointed he won, but I’m not bitter about it. I think he’s got an amazing story and I give him credit for winning in a free election. I think he’s a good man and it’s possible he could prove to be a good president. I’m just not at all convinced that he will be anywhere near as fantastic as most everyone else thinks he will. I would welcome the opportunity for him to prove me wrong though.

  8. NeW SoUnD Says:

No I dont think that he will be a good President people voted for him for all the wrong reasons lets make history and thinking this nation came far is a far fetched idea. The last thing this country needs was a Democratic President. I am looking at this from an un racist, no name view. Meaning Democrat Vs Rebulican. Everyone said because McCain was a Bush supporter that he would keep things exactly the same. I do not believe so, with knowing how much everyone hated Bush do people honestly think that he would make the same mistakes?? I feel we should have mainted a Rebulican in office because even thought McCain was a Bush supporter he did not back up his policies 100% so I do feel that he would have made neccessary changes were they should have been. Obama on the other hand is full of Pipe dreams and empty promises. regardless of his true campaign followers he got additional sympathy votes, and Bush hater votes. Which is why I feel that people voted for him for all the wrong reasons. McCain who didnt spend 150 Million dollars to put a half hour bullshit documentary about himself on television. He stayed in the background quietly and approached his campagin in a non chalant if you want to call attitude. I am niether a Obama Hater or believer because I think no matter what race or ethnicity or beilefs we all vote for another man to sit in office and try to make something out of nothing. People have spoke about you can now be proud to be an American again, I am proud to be American but at the same point we should be a shamed of ourselves. Recently visiting Europe you but a newspaper political and important events appear on front page news stories where as in American we get stories about sports and Madonna it is rediculous that proud to be an american can really be spoken of because we still have no respect from other European countries.

  9. Anna Says:

I’m glad hes our President. Mccain Just wanted to go into Iran and start blowing everything up. Obama is going to bring our troops home where they belong. Mccain was all about helping the big businesses. Obama is going to help us get out of this recession. Mccain wanted to drill for oil everywhere he can. Obama is plain out just going to help with the prices without ruining more of our land. And the best part is the fact he is our first black president and that means more than i can say. It hopefully will help with all the racisim our country has and show it doesn’t matter what you look like as long as your heart and mind are in the right place. I think everyone is so damn scared right now just because hes black and for no other reason. I’m a white woman and am married to a white man and we’re both Obama supporters.

  10. Missy Says:

Fine. The democratic party is intermixed with all races and people from all walks of life. It reflects America and the ideas of America better than the republican party. Obama will make a great president. I have believed in him since day one and I am glad he didn’t stoop to low, dirty tactics but won clean and fair. If anyone does not like President Obama, get over it because he is our president.

  11. nickii_l Says:

I am glad that Obama is the next president. I am only 16 years old and I am more excited than the people that actually voted. And some of these people on here are pissing me off saying that he is not their president. The only way he will not be your president is if you move out of the United States. So therefore Barack Obama i cant wait until January 20, 2009.

  12. jdkflsiu Says:

All I have to say is look at our last mistake. Most people that voted for George Bush knew they made a mistake as the years went by. I bet you anything most of them went for McCain and others didnt want to have another Bush and went for Obama. Most Americans think Obama as President is the biggest mistake weve made but just wait and see. I know he wants PEACE and to change america for the good. Congrats to you Obama! And no Im not black…Im Samoan =)

  13. Rebecca Says:

I would have felt the same either way I think. I am still scared for the future of my children no matter who is the president of the USA. Obama has made a lot of promises that quiet frankly scare the crap out of me…I say just keep us all safe and fix the freakin economy and I’m good. But do you honestly think that is gonna happen?? And by all means…I pray to God that he keeps all his “hush-hush” friends OUT of the white house. And to all of those that are so “on cloud 9″ because we FINALLY have a black president, hate to steal your glory BUT he is 1/2 white folks please believe it AND that makes the president BIRACIAL… a bit more white than black because…did daddy not walk out on his momma?? AND did “white” grandma not raise him??? Come on people….OPEN your eyes… Get over the color of his skin and off your high horses…black or white, who cares????

  14. timelady Says:

Hopefully his skill in making decisions matches his skill in making speeches. I think his way of thinking and policies are wrong and all I can do is hope we survive them.
I am not sure about him. I don’t like how he changes like the wind when it comes to public opinion. He’s a member of a church for 20 years with a radical pastor and quits only when he’s called on it. He says he’s going to raise taxes on anyone making over 50 thousand in the beginning and in the end its up to 250 thousand. I’m having real trouble believing him, I think the economy will suffer in the long run with him, I think government is going to be totally inept up when it comes to national health insurance, and I totally know Im going to get nailed in taxes, even though I’m way under his so called limit.
Oh, and there is not an honest politician in chicago, I know, I grew up there.
I sincerely hope I am wrong. I hope he succeeds because if he does than that means we are all better off. I just am not going to hold my breath.

  15. Kirria T Says:

My family is completly divided on this election. Now that Barack is preseident my mom wants to move out of the country! Its not that she is racist we live in a all black neighbor hood and her best friend is black. Its just what he wants to do upsets her. Me personally I don’t care if he is because if he screws up really bad he would just get impeached and a new president would be appointed

  16. Anonymous Says:

Really I don’t like Bush, McCain, or Obama. All three of them supported giving a $850 billion bailout to multimillionaire bankers and then charging the bill to us taxpayers who are already struggling.
Is Obama a better choice than McCain? Perhaps so. He certainly is able to motivate people.
But I don’t trust either of them, they robbed me and all Americans of $850 billion of our money and then went on tv and told us it was for our own good.

  17. Anonymous Says:

The next 8 years will represent one of the greatest transformations of culture and unity driven by a truly powerful & visionary leader named Barack Obama. I am more proud now to be an American than I have been in my entire life.
    - 32yo Caucasian male and dam proud to be an Obama supporter!

  18. Jajuanna W Says:

I feel so happy and excited to see what he can achieve for our country. He has a strong support system and they will help him to become a great leader. Change is always good no matter what kind. As American we should just embrace it and try to work together to build our nation back up to what it was. It not only takes the president to make America better but it also takes us the people to help achieve this goal too!

  19. slayer Says:

I am thrilled! I’m Australian but I would have voted if I could have. Not only was it an historical moment for racial prejudice, but Obama is a man with brains, well spoken, has realistic values and animals matter to him. He’s what the world needs. I feel great, one of the best days of my life.
You know what else, it is REALLY bringing out the loonies of the world who say “God doesn’t want this” and very racist things. Those are the ones we have to watch out for, they will ruin the world

  20. ty2 Says:

very relieved very excited. proud because black people have come through so much in our lifetime and finally we can smile and say we made it. martin luther king died for this day. this time is also not just about black people it is about everybody because its time for us to come together as a whole and support each other black and white. the last 8 yrs were horrible so now lets hope the next 8 will be better

  21. Autumn Says:

I feel great about it and amazed i get to see him be a wonderful president history has been made and im proud to be a part of it i think he will do this country some good after 8 years of hell with bush and to all of you racist sons of a bitches honsetly go and die no one cares to hear your comments in case you did not realize ‘WE” won not you hahaha
    ‘Yes We Can” :)

  22. Moty Says:

I pray he does not get assassinated, he has young children. While Biden would make a fine president, I still hope all is fine. The south is such a scary version of reality that I worry he will be sniped.
In a nation where the ku klux klan still exists, we must pray for our new leader and his family–whatever your political belief!

  23. Mel Says:

I am sooo happy! I belive we truly have someone who truly cares about his country. The country made a excellent choice finally this time. Although i am a little afraid for his safety bcuz you have some idiots out there that can’t accept this because he is black. Hopefully time will prove them wrong and they will soon be awaken from that dark world.

  24. B.R.O.O. Says:

historically…..i feel proud that my african american generation has witnessed something our ancestors never wouldve imagined to even exist
politically…i believe his ideals are right, john mccain is a smart man but at the end of the day he started to become desperate and very very……….fake…idk what happened but maybe it was his fear that made him lose this presidency…but obama’s hard work payed off, and his backround as a senator will help him as he gets his job done

  25. cuzziman Says:

Politics aside, I’m very proud to see the naysayers that this is a country of old men get quieted. I’m conservative in my politics but I did think that Clinton did a good job. I’ll be optimistic about it but I’m giving him a fair chance before I hammer his policies. Ask this question again in two years.

  26. Anonymous Says:

I think he will do great if people give him a chance, this is suppose to be the land of opportunity and if we cant give another race a chance at president then this country is nothing but a lie. One day there will be a mexican or asian president, so suck it up and get used to CHANGE!!! If not now….when??? GOBAMA!!!

  27. juliet_9 Says:

I am proud to call him my president
he will certainly make a difference in the U.S
he is representng the 95% of us who are middle class and the 5% who are upper class better start hiding thier money cause obama is certainly commin for it
    I am sincerely proud

  28. 電車男 Says:

Like I said, the President doesn’t pay my bills, regardless of party affiliation.
Just think, if McCain had made a wise VP choice (like Chuck Hagel), he’d now be the President Elect!
Anyway, anyone who follows Bush II will look like a hero.

  29. soccergi Says:

I think its realy cool dat he made history and that good will come out of it cause now we wont go for war like mcain is and wuts the point of voting for mcain its just like reelecting bush? dont we want change?!
Well i think its good that he is president now

  30. darkstar Says:

Well I’m not really optimistic, his policies don’t offer real change. When will people realize that this man isn’t going to live up to anything he says? I predict our economy will continue to fall and Obama won’t do anything about it.

  31. A Journey Says:

Very happy about it. It is sad that people are being this racist and close minded but I know there are Republicans that are actually having a positve attitude towards it. They had it coming. My hope is our nation will stand united and hatred will slow down.
