Would Everyone Be Questioning Barack Obama’s Religious Views If His Name Was Bill Smith?

Posted on 26 February 2010 by admin

Is all of the talk and fear-mongering concerning Obama from the right (and left) baseless? In other words, is it just because his name is “Barack Hussein Obama” or are there legitimate concerns that his ethnic and religious heritage would affect the country/presidency/national security?

Bill Smith would be completely vetted as I would expect that Barack Hussein Obama would be.
They are many reasons to not cast a vote for Barack…..his name and heritage are on the bottom of the list.
So, instead of bringing up his name….why don’t you tell us all the reasons to vote for him!

  2. Swordfis Says:

No! In addition; those who question his patriotism or Christian beliefs based upon his name, show the most bigotry. Ask the soldiers abroad; fighting next their fellow soldier without an Anglo -Saxon Sir Name.

  3. Larry S Says:

    No they wouldn’t.

Well, it is a combination of ignorance and racism… I guess that is redundant!!! I think a lot of white America is terrified with the prospect of this countries Prez, being black… It hurts my heart to read some of the crap that I have read and heard about him over the last few months… I guess a lot of people in America would prefer that our constitution be amended “all men are created equal” should be changed to “all white men are created equal”

  5. girls_ro Says:

Exactly! 80% of Hillary supporters are only voting for her because she’s white.

If his name was Bill Smith, and he had the exact same back ground as he does now, yes I believe that it would still concern people. To me, it isn’t his religion, but the things I have found out about him in doing research. And it scares me to think that if he wins, that it could affect this country in a big way. I have links to my research if you want them, if not that’s fine. The way he steps on toes to climb the ladder and his links,(he says he doesn’t have) to big corporations that have lobbyists on the payroll, the way he doesn’t even bother to vote issues in the Senate. Those are just some of the things that has turned me off of him. So Bill Smith or Barack Obama, it is still the same man.

Oh they might, and no matter who it is, you can count on conservatives to mis-state it.

No, and If his Father was born in the US or somewhere like Jamaica
It’s the fact his father is from a Muslim country
    He has a Muslim name
If his father was from this country with a Muslim name, I do not think people would care

  13. jim h Says:

No. People need to educate themselves enough to understand that your name does not and can not make you a Muslim. I don’t like Obama but I think it is gutless and immature to pick on him for something that isn’t true.

  14. Carnage Cow Says:

Look, I don’t care about a president’s ethnicity, gender, religion, name, or any other such thing. Even if his name was Bill Smith I think his religious roots would be questioned because Obama, despite his black and white heritage, looks a little bit like a man from the Middle East, and this makes people conclude that he is a Muslim. He is very much not a Muslim, but even he was I would be okay with it. It’s only fear-mongering because this country has a prejudice against Muslims because of the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, and anywhere else where we have a conflict with people who have a high chance of being named Mohammed or Ahmed. This country did the same thing with the Russians during and after the Cold War. One’s own heritage should not impact their presidency unless they will not defend the country because he says it is against his religion. So, anyone who thinks Obama is a deviant and a terrorist because his name looks a little strange can forget about being mentioned in history classes of the future as nothing more than white supremacists.

  15. Christopher S Says:

only if he was an evangelical Christian

  16. Anonymous Says:

Well considering Bill Smith is close to Will Smith and they both kind of look alike and Will Smith is a Scientologist, then, yes, probably.
